Hamilton fastest in second practice at Sochi
Lewis Hamilton was fastest for Mercedes in the second practice session of the Russian Grand Prix weekend, from Kevin Magnussen and Fernando Alonso at the Sochi Autodrom.
The session got off to a relatively quiet start, with Max Chilton, Esteban Gutierrez – who was replaced by Sergey Sirotkin in FP1 – and Valtteri Bottas being the only drivers to take to the track in the opening two minutes.
Chilton put in the first lap time of practice two with a 1:53.499 on the medium compound tyre. He was quickly displaced by Jenson Button and Bottas, who traded fastest times early on. Hamilton's run was good enough for third, with his team-mate taking over the top spot.
