Vergne fights back to earn best result of 2014
– Outgoing Toro Rosso driver Jean-Éric Vergne recorded his best finish in over a year as he battled to sixth in the Singapore Grand Prix.Vergne achieved the result despite a pair of five-second stop/go penalties – the second applied after the race – for exceeding the track limits.He capped off his night with two late moves on Kimi Räikkönen and Valtteri Bottas, pulling away enough to absorb his second sanction."It was a fantastic race and I'm extremely happy, especially considering the two five-second penalties," said Vergne after stepping out of the car."I had to push as much as possible in the last laps and pull away and that is what I was able to do."I...
