Gutierrez will not run in qualifying
Sauber’s Esteban Gutierrez will not take part in Saturday’s qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix, after damaging the monocoque of his Sauber C33 in the morning practice session.
The young Mexican driver hit the wall on the exit of turn 4 early in the session and once the car was returned to the team at the end of the session, the swiss mechanics found the monocoque was damaged beyond local repair, and will need to prepare a new chassis around the spare monocoque for the race.
As a consequence of not taking part in qualifying, Gutierrez will start last on the grid for the Grand Prix tomorrow.
