Hamilton tops sporting ‘rich list’
Lewis Hamilton may not yet be heading the 2014 F1 world championship standings, but he is comfortably at the head of the field elsewhere. The Mercedes driver, who is currently on a run of three straight race wins as he attempts to close the points gap between himself and team-mate Nico Rosberg, has been named as Britain's richest sporting figure in the latest calculation by The Sunday Times Rich List. The 2008 world champion is estimated to be worth a staggering £68m, putting himself ahead of other millionaire stars such as Manchester United's Wayne Rooney, Wimbledon champion Andy Murray, British basketball players starring in America's NBA and a host of golfers.
