Rosberg delighted with qualifying effort
– Nico Rosberg described himself as "very happy" after beating Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton to pole position in Bahrain. The German had been outpaced by Hamilton during all three practice sessions at the Sakhir circuit earlier in the weekend, but he crucially moved ahead on the first timed runs in the final shootout phase. And when Hamilton ran wildly wide after locking up at the first corner on his last attempt of the night, Rosberg's fifth career pole was secured.
