Pirelli names opening tyre choices

Pirelli has announced its tyre choices for the first four grands prix of the 2014 season.The tyre manufacturer made its choices public after the end of pre-season testing in Bahrain, where two tests in warm conditions had allowed Pirelli to gain more relevant data relating to the tyres compared to previous seasons. With a bigger performance gap expected between the hard and medium compounds, as well as the medium and soft, three of the opening four races will use the latter combination while Malaysia will see the hardest pairing supplied.Motorsport director Paul Hembery said the tests had shown that two or three stops per race could still be expected in 2014.“The information gained over...
