Formula One Team's Association (FOTA) formally disbands
The Formula One Team’s Association (FOTA) has officially disbanded. After months of speculation over the future of the group, Oliver Weingarten, Secretary General of FOTA confirmed the news that the body would disband on Friday via Twitter.
“I can confirm that FOTA has today been disbanded as a result of its members’ having re-evaluated their requirements in the face of a changing political and commercial landscape in Formula One,” he tweeted.
FOTA was formed in 2008 to at as a united body in response to then FIA President Max Moseley’s cost cutting measures, as well as to pressure Bernie Ecclestone in team’s negotiations over the commercial rights of the sport.
