Mercedes shakes down F1 W05 at Silverstone

– Mercedes completed a shake down test with its 2014 Formula 1 challenger at Silverstone on Friday. Nico Rosberg was handed the first run in the F1 W05, which racked up 40km of running over a two-hour period. Force India and Nico Hülkenberg were also present at the Northamptonshire venue to give the VJM07 chassis its maiden run, while Jean-Éric Vergne and Daniil Kvyat conducted mileage in Toro Rosso's STR9 at Misano. Formula 1 teams are permitted to carry out two private 100km outings – commonly known as promotional days – throughout 2014, providing they use demo Pirelli tyres and keep the FIA fully up to date with their plans.
