Maldonado bags what should have been Hulkenberg's seat

AP Images/F1 Pulse Pastor Maldonado has emerged as the thorn in Nico Hulkenberg’s Formula 1 career after the Venezuelan was announced as a Lotus driver for the 2014 season. The Enstone-based outfit had admitted that it preferred to hire the services of the German next season but financial constraints forced it to rope in Maldonado and his sponsor PDVSA, the Venezuelan state-owned oil company which reportedly offers to the tune of €40 million annually.
