Raikkonen undergoes successful surgery

Kimi Raikkonen’s back surgery has gone ahead as planned, reports the Finnish broadcaster MTV, with a rest period of four to six weeks now expected to follow for the 2007 World Champion, who will join Ferrari for next season. Raikkonen, who has carried a recurring back problem since a testing crash with Sauber in 2001, flared the old injury at this year’s Singapore Grand Prix, but while the issue was due to be solved during the winter-break, the Finn, amongst a pay dispute with his current Lotus team, decided to bring his surgery forward so as not to miss any preparation time with his new employers Ferrari.
