Ricciardo, who has signed for Red Bull next year, caused a safety car period when he took too much speed into Turn 18 on lap 24 and ran into the barriers. Ricciardo was 16th at the time after recovering from a bad start and admitted the crash was down to driver error. "The crash was my error, trying to make up for lost ground," he said.
