Silverstone Test Day 1: Magnussen tops for McLaren 17 July, 2013 Kevin Magnussen fastest of all on day one at Silverstone McLaren's regular drivers may be having a torrid season in their below par MP4-28, but that did not stop Kevin Magnussen from tearing up the form book and end day one of the Young Drivers Test at Silverstone fastest of all.
The Dane, son of ex-F1 driver Jan Magnussen, was slowest of all midway through the opening day, but during the afternoon made solid progress before topping the timing sheets with a hot lap of 1:33.602, around 20 minutes from before the chequered flag waved to bring the first day's proceedings to an end.
