Whitmarsh: Perez has 'stepped it up'

McLaren Team Principal Martin Whitmarsh feels new signing Sergio Perez has 'stepped it up' in regards to his confidence and performance. The Mexican had a difficult start to the season, which was not helped by the difficult MP4-28. However Whitmarsh feels that he is now on an upward trajectory and the team are looking to better results in the future as they continue to develop the car. Speaking in a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes phone-in, Whitmarsh shared his feelings on the improving 23-year-old. 'I think his trajectory is definitely going in the right direction,' he said.
