Why Dunne quit McLaren – and why he has no regrets

In a paddock where driver academies are treated like golden tickets, F2 charger Alex Dunne stunned the junior racing world last October by voluntarily stepping out of McLaren’s driver development programme. No safety net. No confirmed alternative. Just belief — and a plan. To outsiders, the move looked reckless. To Dunne, it was necessary. The 20-year-old Irishman’s rise under McLaren’s mentorship had followed the textbook path.
